A Girly Guide to Valentine’s Day

            Ladies, let’s admit this right now – most of the time we leave the Valentine’s Day planning up to the guys. Sure, we’re testing out their romantic knowledge and willpower, but let’s give the guy a little bit of a break! Let’s plan something special for that man in our life, and make him feel like he’s just as special as he makes you feel. We know he has dinner covered, so let’s plan something during the day.

            There are so many short day trips to plan, but the one that gives you the most one on one time with each other would be a picnic. Start by gathering together the necessary supplies. You’ll need a blanket to sit on and a basket to keep the food in. If you don’t have a basket a nice bag will do. Here is the first choice, do you make the lunch, or do you pick it up?

            Making a lunch for him shows time and dedication went into pulling this all together. However, you must know what he likes to eat. If you’re unsure, stop by the local sandwich store and pick up some subs. A nice macaroni or potato salad on the side will complement the sandwiches nicely. Now, what to drink? Alcoholic beverages, such as wine, typically aren’t allowed in city parks. Go for the individual fruit juices or sodas. If your man plays his cards right, you’ll be having drinks with dinner.

            Dress is a nice flower dress if it’s a warm day. A sun dress with some sandals will make his imagination wander and his hands want to explore. Be tempting, but not obviously so. If it’s a cooler day, wear jeans with a cute shirt. Make sure the outfit shows off that cute figure you have worked so hard for. Flaunt it while you’ve got it, girlfriend!

            You drive. If you want to surprise your sweetie, tell him you have something special planned for the afternoon and want to pick him up. If you’ve already let on to your plan, you are still driving. It gives him the time off from worrying about where you are going and what you are doing. This is your time to let him relax and enjoy the ride.

            When you get to the park, pick out the perfect spot. A little shady, but still sunny and warm. Surprisingly eating on the ground is more romantic then piling everything up on a picnic table. Being on the ground gives him the chance to see all of you and reach out and cuddle.

            After lunch, if you live in a windy area, be sure to bring a kite! This will give you both a chance to work together to get that sucker up in the air and fly it. Then you can both just lay on your backs and watch it twirling around in the wind. If the air is a little too calm for a kite, load up all the picnic supplies in the car, and go for a walk around the park. Make it a nice, slow romantic walk that both of you can enjoy. Stop to look at the flowers and laugh at little kids falling off the jungle gym.

            At the end of your special afternoon, you will both feel good about the time you spent together. Ask him what time he will be picking you up later that evening, so you can plan when you need to pull out that date dress and get ready to be romanced. Enjoy your valentine’s day and go out of your way to make your man feel special!
